Who can apply for membership?

Anyone over the age of 60 can apply to become a member of Thame Senior Friendship Centre.

Anyone can refer a potential new member – a GP, district nurse, family members, friends and, of course potential member themselves.

What can members expect?

A lift there and back

Transport is included in your weekly fee, and a volunteer driver will collect you and take you home again. There may be a small additional cost for those living further afield. When you arrive, a volunteer will help you settle in and welcome you with a hot drink.

Getting out and meeting friends

Thame Senior Friendship Centre is a vibrant place full of chatter and activity – where new friendships are made and old ones renewed. The Centre provides you with a regular opportunity to socialise away from home; a welcome break for you and others, perhaps those who care for you.

Keeping active and busy

We usually start the day with a relaxing hour or so of catching up with friends and provide a variety of fun activities to stimulate you and encourage you to socialise and join in as much as you wish.

Good food

After a cup of tea or coffee we offer you a sherry followed by a good, hot two-course lunch, catering for individual dietary needs. After lunch, we offer more hot drinks, biscuits and often cake when we’re celebrating.

Entertainment

Visiting musicians, singers and speakers may join us after lunch or we will run our own quizzes or indoor games to keep you entertained and involved. We arrange at least two outings each year including our Christmas lunch.

How to apply

You can apply by phone, post or by using our digital application form.

The quickest way to apply is to download the digital application form (this pdf download will open in a new window). You can complete this form using your computer. Once you’ve completed the application form, you will need to email it to us at info@thameseniorfriendshipcentre.com.

You also can download the application form, print it and complete it by hand. If you do this, you will need to send your completed form to us at: Thame Senior Friendship Centre, Thame Town Cricket Club, Church Meadow, Church Road, Thame, Oxfordshire, OX9 3AJ.

Privacy notices can be found on our Privacy page. We recommend you review the privacy policy before completing the application form.

What happens after you submit an application?

Once we receive an application or referral form, we will add you to our waiting list and contact you as soon as a place is available. When a place does become available, you’ll then be invited to visit the Centre for the day. This will give us the pleasure of meeting you and you the chance to meet the team and other members. It will also help you decide whether or not the Thame Senior Friendship Centre is right for you.

If you do decide to join as a member, and our assessment shows that we can meet your needs in line with our criteria, we will offer you a place!

As a member, you’ll have regular two-way catchups with our team to gather feedback about your experience and ensure that we continue to support you and can meet your needs.
