Thame Senior Friendship Centre
Thame Senior Friendship Centre is a Registered Charity offering a caring and sociable space for older people living in Thame and the surrounding area.
Our members meet at the Thame Town Cricket Pavilion on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 3:15pm, and we’re open for 50 weeks of the year.
The Thame Senior Friendship Centre is rich with human contact. Members enjoy a day out with friends, plenty of refreshments, a two-course meal and a variety of entertainment. We can currently accommodate 60 members a week and are hopeful to increase this in the future.

Our History
We first opened in 1986 as the Thame and District Day Centre based at Thame Community Hospital. Since then we’ve grown to accommodate 60 members a week at our new home, the new Thame Cricket Pavilion. We renamed ourselves in 2020 to become Thame Senior Friendship Centre but our aims and core values remain the same.
Our Aims
- Provide a caring, sociable and flexible environment to meet individuals’ needs.
- Liaise with and support the carers of members.
- Promote choice, dignity and independence, respecting the rights of our members and their carers.
- Work with care managers from the Health Care Directorate, Health Service professionals and voluntary and statutory bodies to provide support for our members.
Volunteers
The Thame Senior Friendship Centre is rich with human contact. Staff and volunteers have the time to listen and talk to our members and encourage them to socialise together, creating an environment full of fun and life. We welcome new volunteers of all ages to support our members and other volunteers.
“Being a volunteer driver is great fun. And when Day Centre members say: ‘I don’t know what we would do without you people,’ I can say, in complete honesty, that feeling is mutual”
